QUETTA - A complete shutter-down strike was observed in different towns of Balochistan on Friday to condemn the recovery of bullet-riddled bodies of Arafat Ibrahim and Kareem Jan. Disfigured bodies of missing youth were recovered by Levies force from Murghab area, some 10 kms from Turbat town. Baloch National Front and Baloch Students Organisation (Azad) had jointly given the strike call to condemn the killings, which they alleged was carried out by government agencies during illegal detention. The strike was observed in Turbat, Tump, Mand, Gwadar, Pasni, Awaran Panjgur, and other areas. Life remained at a standstill in these areas as all shops, markets, restaurants and even pharmacies remained closed for the day due to the strike. However, some restaurants and medical stores resumed their business in the evening. Lawyers also boycotted courts proceedings to express solidarity with the families of the deceased. A large number of policemen and other law enforcement personnel were deployed in the areas to avoid any untoward incident.
