KASUR/JHANG-Five persons were killed and 25 others received multiple injuries when a freight train crushed a factory bus near Landa Phattak, Pattoki early Friday morning.

According Rescue 1122 and police, the accident took place when the Karachi-bound freight train, on the way from Lahore, smashed into a bus, carrying factory workers. The bus was carrying workers from Dullan to Raiwind when it met the accident at the unmanned railway crossing.

The police said that negligence of the railway workers caused the accident as the crossing was opened despite the fact that the train was scheduled to move through the area.

The rescuers shifted the bodies and injured to THQ Hospital. The deceased were identified as policeman Muhammad Yousaf, Maqbool Hussain, Aneequr Rehman, Nadeem and Waseem Asghar.

According to doctors at the hospital, condition of 13 of the injured is critical.


In Jhang, three persons were killed in a terrible accident on Jhang-Multan Road here on Friday. According to police, the accident occurred when a Multan-bound mazda truck, on the way from Sangla Hill, collided head-on with another speeding truck near Chah Fateh Wala on Jhang-Multan Road. Resultantly, both trucks drivers - Shahid Abbas, son of Umer Hayyat, a resident of Sangla Hill and the other Naeem, son of Muhammad Afzal, a resident of Jhang along with a cleaner Abdul Waheed, son Abdul Aziz, a resident of Shorkot Cantt died on the spot. Another Zaman, son of Lal Khan sustained critical wounds and was admitted to THQ Hospital Shorkot in serious condition.
