LAHORE (PR): Huawei Consumer Business Group (BG) officially introduced the new Huawei watch to markets in Europe at IFA. The watch, with its classic design, inspired by Swiss timepieces, will go on sale in many countries soon. The Huawei watch, powered by Android Wear™, would enable its user to stay connected wherever he or she is, with instant alerts for calls, texts, instant messages and emails. With Bluetooth connectivity for wireless headphone usage, coupled with offline music download support, staying active would become a lot easier with Huawei smart watch.

Music can be started via voice commands, with users able to search for destinations and navigate their way they are using the same voice actions. Locating missing phones has never been easier than with the watches “find my phone” function.

PU denies allegation of

illegal appointments

LAHORE (PR): The Punjab University spokesman has strongly denied the allegations of 300 ‘unlawful’ appointments in Punjab University and said that the official version was also wrongly published in the report. The spokesman said that the reporter was given a detailed briefing on the topic but unfortunately he has again distorted official point of view and misquoted PU spokesman as saying and continuously violating journalistic code of ethics.

The spokesman said that the reporter was briefed that the Syndicate had formed a committee in 2013 to look after contractual appointments of teaching posts and the Syndicate delegated its powers to the committee. He said that this committee was unique in its formation as it had two nominations of Syndicate members who had always attended its meetings.

He said that deans and heads of departments of the faculty concerned were also members of this high-powered committee. He said that the reporter was informed that 90 percent cases in the meetings of the committee were related to extension of already appointed faculty members, which never meant that new appointments were being made. The spokesman clarified further that he never said that these appointments had been made “without the approval of the Syndicate” and the reporter had supported his version of the story by wrongly publishing this statement.
