ISLAMABAD - A full court reference will be held tomorrow (Wednesday) in the honour of Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Jawwad S Khawaja who is retiring the same day after serving the apex court for more than five years as judge as well as Chief Justice.

The outgoing Chief Justice is retiring after attaining the age of superannuation (65 years) according to provisions of the Constitution. All the judges of apex court will attend the reference scheduled to be held in the Court Room No 1, says a notification issued by the Supreme Court.

The Chief Justice designate Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali, Attorney General of Pakistan, Salman Aslam Butt, Vice Chairman Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) and President Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) will deliver speeches on the occasion.

The outgoing chief justice, in his speech, will highlight the performance of the judiciary for dispensation of justice, especially the role of the apex court.

Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali will be the new Chief Justice as per seniority. After Justice Jawwad S Khawaja, Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali, Justice Saqib Nisar, Justice Asif Saeed Khan Khosa, Justice Gulzar Ahmed and Justice Umar Ata Bandial would become the Chief Justice of Pakistan according to the seniority list available on the website of the Apex Court.
