LAHORE Hammad Riaz of Lahore won the finals of the nationwide campaign of the Pakistan Racer Hunt that was held at the prestigious Bahria Town in Lahore. Over 500 contestants from across the nation took part in the activity conducted by Racing Pakistan in an effort to promote motorsport in the nation and take the winner to represent Pakistan internationally in a motorsport competition. The campaign was sponsored by Bank AlFalah and Warid Glow and was spear headed by Pakistans formula racing dricer Adnan Sarwar and the Racing Pakistan team. The final race results were as follows: After grabbing pole position and leading from start to finish, Hammad Riaz of Lahore raced to the top to take the win at the final of Pakistan Racer Hunt 2009. At the rolling start, Hammad build up a lead of nearly 10 seconds on the warm up lap with the followers failing to keep him in sights and could never recover from that mistake. M Abdullah took second place from Saad Lari on the 5th lap with the former suffering an unfortunate clutch failure soon after and retired from the race while being hussled for 3rd place by Syed Hamza of Islamabad. There was some fierce wheel to wheel racing up and down the order especially for 2nd place but Abdullah kept his cool and his 2nd place from Hamza. Hammad Riaz was followed by Mohammad Abdullah also of Lahore and Syed Hamza of Islamabad at second and third places respectively. A special achievement award was also presented to Ms. Mahra Bhatti from Lahore, who stood fourth fastest in all contestants nationwide, but could not take part as a driver in the finals due to an off-track injury. Chief guests; Mr. Hamid Mirza Head of Marketing and global strategy, Bank Alfalah and Mr. Aamir Hameed and Mr. Omar Ashraf of Warid Telecom presented the trophies and certificates to contestants and winners on a stage that was preceded by a performance by one of the nations biggest bands, Strings.
