Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal on Monday stressed a need for respecting each others’ mandate for continuation of democratic system.

Addressing a special ceremony held at District Bar Room Narowal under the auspices of Citizen Police Liaison Committee here, he said that everyone should come forward for playing a pivotal role in the national development.

The federal minister added that the government would soon introduce police reforms package for promotion of policing in active cooperation of the society. He said that it would remove all the hurdles from the provision of speedy justice.

He added that the construction of sports city costing Rs2.7 billion was briskly underway at Narowal for promoting indoor and outdoor games in the Narowal region. He said that Narowal youth were enriched with natural talent and now the time was high to polish their talent at every level.

The federal minister said that there was a dire need for promoting unity among all the segments of the society, adding that the non-democratic elements had always derive benefit from political tug-of-war and pushed the country into darkness.

He said that the time was ripe  for all the political parties to get united by shunning their differences in the national interest, and come forward to play a pivotal role for strengthening Pakistan politically and economically. Mr Iqbal said that the government was striving to ensure continuity of democratic system in Pakistan with the power of the masses, besides, strengthening all the national institutions by respecting the mandate given to PML-N by the masses. He said that the people have now become mature. He said that only the massive have right to bring about change through votes.

He urged the politicians to think of the country’s future and strengthen it in a bid to promote its image globally. “Politicians should give up the traditional politics of conflicts which damage the national institutions and properties,” he added. He asked the local CPLC officials to ensure early installation of the CCTV cameras at all the important places in Narowal city.

Later, he visited the under-construction project of Sports City at Narowal. He directed the officials concerned to ensure timely completion of the project. MPAs Khawaja Waseem Butt, Rana Manan Khan,  DCO Syed Najaf Iqbal, DPO Dr Inam Waheed, CPLC Chairman Shehbaz Tatla and Malik Tariq Awan were also present.
