LAHORE - Ordering inquiry into the incidents, Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has taken immediate notice of the acts of hooliganism and firing near Novelty Bridge in Faisalabad and sought a report from RPO in this regard.

He the people involved in firing should immediately be arrested and action be taken under the law. The chief minister said that the situation arisen in Faisalabad was a result of provocative statements and appeals of ransacking by some political leaders. Shahbaz said he was deeply grieved over the loss of a precious human life and ordered the police to arrest the persons responsible without any delay. He appealed to PML-N workers to remain peaceful and show patience. The chief minister said peaceful protest was the constitutional and legal right, however, no one could be allowed to create chaos in the garb of protest.

He warned that those taking law into their hands would be dealt with sternly. He said the responsibility of protection of life and property of the people would be discharged efficiently. Shahbaz directed that all possible steps should be taken for maintaining a peaceful atmosphere in Faisalabad. He said police and administration should take necessary steps for the protection of life and property of the people as maintenance of public peace was the foremost responsibility of the government.

The CM constituted a 3-member committee for investigation of Faisalabad incident. Provincial Secretary Environment will be head of this committee while Additional Commissioner Faisalabad and DPO Toba Tek Singh will be its members. The committee will consider all those facts and happenings as a result of which firing incident took place.


Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Reforms Ahsan Iqbal on Monday said Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan wants to start civil war in order to acquire premiership.

Talking to the media in Islamabad he accused Imran Khan of paving way for civil war through violence.

Government intends to resolve political crisis through negotiations but they have no clue who to communicate with, he added.

He said Imran Khan has no desire to hold talks whereas his team is sincerely wants solution to the crisis.

Demands cannot be met on gunpoint, he affirmed.

He further said all plans from A to Z aim at making Imran Khan the prime minister.

Ahsan said that the government would soon introduce Police Reforms Package for promoting good policing in active cooperation with the society to remove all the hurdles to speedy justice.

The minister said that the time was ripe for all the political parties to be united by shunning their political differences in the larger national interest and should come forward to play a pivotal role for strengthening Pakistan politically and economically.

Ahsan revealed that the present government was striving to ensure the continuity of the democratic system in the country with the power of the masses, besides strengthening all the national institutions.
