Concordia fest

LAHORE (PR): Concordia Colleges have arranged the “Concordia Fest” to welcome their newly-enrolled students at the Intermediate level.

All 7 campuses actively participated in the Programmes organised on the 4th of December for girls & 5th of December for boys.

Dr. Naveed Malik, Concordia Colleges’ Consultant Academics, along with Dr. Tahir Abbas Dean of Sciences & Dr. Qalb-e-Abid Dean of Art & Humanity welcomed the honorary guests Prof. Dr. Fascua Dusk, Dr. Farhat Saleemi & Dr. Musrat Abid.

Karachi welcomes Gymboree Play & Music

KARACHI (PR): Gymboree Play & Music, a pioneering institution in early childhood development, was launched in DHA Phase VI, Karachi on December 7, 2014. The day-long event included free previews for families with children ages 0-5 years, who were excited to take part in the classes on offer. The children also bought Gymboree’s educational toys and explored the play gym area. The event drew in more than 250 families. Beaconhouse Chief Executive Mr Kasim Kasuri and Gymboree Director Mrs Sophia Kasuri were present on the occasion of the launch. This is the first play and learn centre to open in Karachi.

Telenor holds open mind programme

ISLAMABAD (PR): Open Mind Pakistan, Telenor Pakistan’s unique special trainee program for enhancing awareness, accessibility and inclusion of PWDs, has been recognized as a best-practice case in an international research report, entitled ‘Mainstreaming persons with disabilities in Pakistan’, commissioned by the British Council. The report examines the challenges, opportunities and policy issues affecting PWDs in Pakistan. Telenor Pakistan is outlined as a case study for its attempts to formulate an empowering model for PWDs which is the first of its kind in Pakistan. Open Mind, under Telenor Pakistan’s flagship program for persons with disabilities - Khuddar Pakistan - has successfully translated into an effective mechanism of integrating PWDs in the mainstream corporate world and thus strengthening their prospects for future employment. “Telenor, one of Pakistan’s largest mobile-phone companies, has been able to learn from the employment practices at its headquarters in Norway to introduce a scheme for employees with disabilities,” the report states.

Electronic expo at Metro

LAHORE (PR): METRO Pakistan organised Electronics Expo at its Airport wholesale center at DHA, which was a one of its kind exhibition of exciting projects in electronics & mechatronics. The exhibition was a part of electronic gala which is running successfully at all Metro stores nationwide.

The exhibition was followed by a competition between talents under the name of “METRO’s Young Innovator Pakistan 2014”. These young engineers from UET, NUCES-FAST, COMSATS, LUMS locked horns by presenting innovative designs for a rewarded for cutting edge creativity. Cash prizes were awarded to winners where the Grand Prize remained Rs.100, 000 and Runner Up was awarded Rs.50, 000 by Bouzeneth Benaouda, Managing Director METRO Pakistan and a panel of judges from leading institutions.   

Speaking on the occasion Bouzeneth Benaouda said, “We have always been striving for excellence in service, customer centricity and operations to facilitate our customers. We understand that if our customers win, we win. Alongside we also invest in budding talents and this ELECTRONICS EXPO is a unique platform where new talents are given a chance to project their innovative designs, compete and gather due recognition.
