A love-marriage couple was gunned down by the fiancée and parents of the girl here in Mohallah Madina Colony the other night.

According to police source, Ahmad Ali, a BCs student and resident of Jinnah Colony Faisalabad had fallen in love with Samman Rani, also a student of FSc and resident of Model Town Faisalabad. On November 24, they both eloped and contracted love marriage against the wishes of her parents.

Recently, father of Samman, Naveed Ahmad and fiancée Nadeem Mushtaq and others came to know about their presence in the house of Ahmad Ali’s Aunt in Madina Colony Hafizabad.

Late the other night, they allegedly barged into the house and opened indiscriminate firing, killing the love birds on the spot. The accused made good their escape after indulging in aerial firing to intimidate the other occupants of the house. The police shifted the dead bodies to the city morgue for autopsy and registered a case against Naveed Ahmad, Nadeem Mushtaq and two others.

No arrest could be made till filing of this story.

Three-day anti-polio vaccination begins:  Three-Day anti-polio campaign was kicked off by EDO Health Dr Muhammad Aslam Shaheen here on Monday.

While inaugurating the campaign, he called upon parents, Ulema, teachers and members of civil society to cooperate with the vaccination staff in making the anti-polio campaign a big success.

He said that 454 mobile teams had been constituted which would visit every house and school to administer anti-polio vaccine to 1,95,890 children below five years of age. He said that the mobile staff was being provided adequate security by the police.

Meanwhile, the district administration has sealed the KIPS school located on Jalalpur Road Hafizabad. The registration of the school has already been cancelled by the education department on the charge of creating hurdle in the administration of anti-polio vaccine to its students.

The management of the school had created hurdles in the administration of polio vaccine to its students despite strict warning by the government and local administration to cooperate with the vaccination staff in this respect.

The district administration has again strictly warned the owners/management of private schools to extend their full cooperation with towards the vaccination staff to help eliminate the crippling disease.
