The region police claimed to have arrested 506 proclaimed offenders over the past two months and recovered booty worth Rs75 million from their possession. The police also recovered a huge quantity of drugs and illicit firearm from them.

According to statistics issued by RPO office, the region police arrested a total 12,120 accused involved in different crimes including 248 dacoits, 1,769 with illicit arms and recovered weapons including 94 Kalashnikovs, 197 rifles, 191 guns, 1,161 pistols, 80 revolvers, 17 carbons, 29 knives and 11,898 bullets from the culprits. During investigation police traced out 14 blind murders, three robbery-cum-murder cases and 146 robberies cases. Similarly the police, seized drugs including 52.709 kg of heroin, 201.76 kg of chars and 7339 bottles of alcohol.

Meanwhile, Gujranwala Regional Police Officer Syed Dilawar Abbas informed that protection of life and property of the citizens was far most priority of the police, adding that special instructions to SHOs across the region had been issued to take stern action against criminals.

DOC visits DASB camp:  On the directives of DCO Muzaffar Sial, DOC Afzal Warriach visited District Armed Services Board (DASB ) Camp Office located on the Tehsil Municipal Office premises and held meeting with welfare officers of the areas. He paid tributes to ex-servicemen for their services in the defense of homeland and DASB welfare officers for looking after welfare of serving and former soldiers including Shaheeds/soldiers widows.

Earlier, on his arrival ex-servicemen welcomed DOC warmly. On his enquiring, Welfare Coordination Officer Honorary Capt (R) Muhammad Amin complained about shortage of accommodation for the camp office.
