PML-N Quaid Nawaz Sharif has denied any knowledge regarding the alleged militarys role in bringing to an end the lawyers long march. In an interview with a private TV channel on Friday, he said I have no intention to come into power with the support of the US or Army. Nawaz stressed the need for healthy opposition, saying his party would keep on extending unconditional support to PPP-led coalition government for the solution of peoples problems. The PML-N Chief said that his party would keep on playing its role for strengthening of democracy in country. Nawaz said that he would never seek the support of Army and the United States to reach the power adding there was no harm if Army helps the democracy. He said that his party would not become the part of national government on the dictation of US. Asked whether there was an Army role in ending the long march, the former PM said, I have no knowledge about it. To a question Nawaz Sharif said that there was pressure on him to have a meeting with former President Gen (r) Pervez Musharraf after the end of exile but he resisted it. He said that his party wants good relations with US but on the basis of sovereign equality. To another question, the PML-N Chief said that his party struggled for the restoration of judiciary with the spirit of national service. Nawaz said that his party would consider joining the central government if former military dictator was made accountable and the Constitution was purged of the amendment made during his period. His party would not disappoint the nation when it comes to save the country he said, adding we dont believe in political point scoring on the issues of national importance. Nawaz said that the reservation of Baloch people be addressed to strengthened the federation. He said that India should take Pakistan in confidence in anti-terrorism steps rather than levelling the baseless allegation. The peace with India is a dire need but presence of mutual trust between the parties is imperative, he added. He said that solution of Kashmir dispute is a key to solution of all issues between India and Pakistan.
