WASHINGTON (APP) - Dr Aafia Siddiqui, currently detained in a New York jail, will soon be repatriated home, said Interior Minister Rehman Malik. A considerable progress has been made to this effect and there are positive indication from the US administration to get her released. He told this news agency that he held meetings at three levels - FBI, State Department and US Attorney-General. He has forcefully pleaded her case, both on legal and humanitarian grounds. The US side has promised to give sympathetic consideration to their plea. The US administration also showed willingness to arrange meeting of the family members with her. Rehman further said All efforts are under way as per sentiments of the people of Pakistan to get Dr Aafia released. Pakistan Ambassador in Washington has also been advised to provide legal aid to Dr Aafia Siddiqui, he added.
