CHAKWAL - Additional District and Sessions Judge Chakwal, Tariq Mehmood Zargham, directed the owner of a local Cable TV channel to stop displaying illegal advertisements on different TV programmes and asked him to appear before the court on May 14th. According to details, a local journalist, Khawaja Danial Saleem, filed an appeal through his counsel, Malik Shahid Iqbal Advocate, before the court and contended that the Apna Chakwal, a local TV channel, was inserting advertisements in the different popular programmes and according to the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) ordinance, this act was unlawful and subject to the cancellation of the license. The Civil Judge Shafqat Shahbaz Raja did not give a stay order in favour the petition and dismissed it already. The appeal was filed before the court and the learned Sessions Judge was told that the subordinate court did not apply his judicial mind. The Judge ordered the Chief Executive of Apna Chakwal Cable System, Jamil Haider to submit his reply on May 14th and in the meantime the advertisements must be stopped forthwith on the channel programmes.
