LAHORE- The Punjab Food Department on Saturday suspended an Assistant Food Controller and Food Inspector on the charges of embezzlement during the wheat procurement campaign. According to an official handout, Assistant Food Controller Nazir Ali Gohar and Food Inspector Sheikh Muhammad Azam were suspended after they were found purchasing wheat packed in the jute bags of Pakistan Agriculture and Storage Corporation (PASSCO). Both the officials were deployed at a wheat procurement center in Jhang District. The officials said that Deputy Director Faisalabad Amjad Sirgana received the complaints regarding the embezzlement and the allegations were found true during a surprise inspection. The police concerned have registered a case against them and are investigating.
