PESHAWAR - Pakistan Peoples Party (Sherpao) Chairman Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao has asked the Government to implement all the judgments of the Supreme Court as confrontation between institutions will be dreadful. Speaking at a press conference here at his residence here on Saturday, he advised the Government to fully implement Supreme Courts verdicts, as the country couldnt afford any confrontation between the Government and the Judiciary. He said that Army had restored peace in Swat. But for no reason, the civil administration was reluctant to take over control there, which, he said, had created an unrest and uncertainty among the dwellers of Malakand Division. For various schemes of restoration and rehabilitation in Swat, the US had announced releasing $ 400 million, while Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani had issued Rs17 billion for the purpose, but so far nothing was on ground, which he said, was unfortunate. He was of the view that neither restoration and rehabilitation work on different projects was formally launched, nor affected families were compensated as both Federal and Provincial Governments had failed completely to implement its orders in the best interest of the people from Malakand Division. It was obvious that hundreds of schools had been blown up or set on fire in Malakand Division, but President Asif Ali Zardari inaugurated only 21 schools at a function held at Governors House in Peshawar during his maiden visit to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Sherpao termed it a joke with the people of Malakand Division. Expressing his concern over target killings in Swat, he said that such killings were increasing with each passing day. He demanded of the Government to make judicial system more effective in Swat and apprehended culprits must be produced before these courts immediately. He said that credit went to his party for accommodating the establishment of a bench of Peshawar High Court (PHC) at Swat in the 18 Amendment Bill. Transferring government employees from other districts to Swat was not a healthy exercise, so the Government should prefer giving jobs to local people from Swat, which, he said, would produce positive results, He added that in order to minimise hardships being faced by people from Malakand Divsion, a 20 members committee representing his party from Malakand Division had been formed.
