TOBA TEK SINGH-The PML-N government always tried to ruin the agriculture sector through its wrong policies, said farmers leaders here on Sunday.

Addressing a press conference, Progressive Farmers Association President Abdul Razzaq said that it could not have disposed of millions of bags of wheat of last year wheat. And now it was reluctant to purchase the wheat from the growers in the current season, he added.

He claimed in a press conference on Sunday that due to uncertainty of weather condition the farmers had started wheat harvesting in mid of April as the Food Department had announced to start the wheat purchase from April 20 but it could not honour its commitment.

So, the farmers were forced to sell their produce to middle men at throwaway price of Rs 1,120 to Rs1150 per 40kg instead of government’s fixed price of Rs1,300 per 40kg.
