LAHORE - Amid reports that more leaks about politicians’ corruption are going to be revealed on May 9 (today), Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Mian Shehbaz Sharif had a meeting at their Raiwind residence here yesterday.

According to sources, they discussed a host of issues including the political situation in the aftermath of the Panama Leaks. A letter written by Leader of the Opposition Syed Khursheed Shah to the prime minister detailing the ToRs framed by the opposition also came under discussion.

Both agreed not to take dictation from the opposition parties over the ToRs of the proposed judicial commission and to play on the front foot. Nonetheless, the two leaders decided to keep the option of dialogue open with the Opposition to allay their fears about the ToRs framed by the government.

An earlier report appearing in a section of the media suggested that prime minister has been advised by party men not to clear his and his family’s position over the corruption charges by speaking in the Parliament as demanded by the joint opposition.

Sources quoted Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif as having said during the meeting that those doping politics of agitation will not be able to stop the pace of development.  He also briefed the prime minister about the ongoing development projects in Punjab.

In a related development, the parliamentary leaders of the opposition parties are meeting in Islamabad today to ponder over the government’s response over the ToRs. Opposition Leader Syed Khursheed Shah will chair the meeting at his chamber in the afternoon.
