MULTAN - DCO Gulzar Hussain Shah has said that the responsibility for the security of all sacred places including shrines lies on the district administration and no negligence will be tolerated in this regard.

Talking to the journalist while inspecting construction work at Qila Qasim Bagh on Tuesday, he directed the officers of district government to offer all facilities to citizens and faithful coming to the shrines. He expressed satisfaction on the quality and pace of work and directed the officials concerned to introduce a colour scheme for the buildings adjacent to the Qila. He said that he would personally convince the owners of private buildings to give different colours to their buildings as it would not only beautify their properties but also give the impression of a historic place. He asked the sanitation officers to ensure cleanliness, saying no compromise would be made on the sanitation of the city.

He directed the officials concerned to provide a detailed report on the condition of all city parks so that measures could be adopted for improving the condition of parks.

Meanwhile, chairing a meeting held to review arrangements for the polio vaccination drive, he said that he would not let any government officer calmly until all kids were vaccinated. He directed the concerned officials to disseminate the vaccination message in schools instead of launching mere traditional campaign. He warned that strict action would be taken against those parents who resisted vaccination of their kids. The EDO Health told the DCO that all arrangements were made for the launching of campaign on April 15.

Outages : Local Traders, daily wagers, powerloom workers and owners and lawyers on Tuesday protested against the unprecedented power outages in the city and rural areas which has crippled the normal life.

The lawyers on the call of DBA Hafizabad boycotted the courts in protest against 18 to 22 hours loadshedding in the area. Children and families of powerloom workers took out a mock funeral of the Gepco to protest against ever-increasing power outages which have deprived them of two-time meal.

 He demanded decrease in the duration of loadshedding to enable them to make their livelihood.
