OKARA - DCO Syed Gulzar Hussain Shah said the standard of education in government school has improved due to effective monitoring.

He stated this during visits to Government Model Girls High School and Government Islamia High School New Campus here the other day.

District Monitoring Officer Afzal Hayat Tarar, EDO Education Misbah Tallat and other officials also accompanied the DCO. Later, he visited primary schools and praised Government Model Primary school Basti Rehmat Pura Headmistress Hameeda for producing 100 percent result.

Thereafter, he also visited a Basic Health Centre at Chak 26/2-L and received complaints about shortage of medicine. Taking notice, he directed the MO to immediately ensure the availability of medicines in all BHUs.

Three held: The District Police arrested three dacoits while nine others managed to escape after a shootout in Haroon Town here the other day.

Reportedly, the police were tipped off that 12 dacoits were looting the public in Haroon Town.

At which the police rushed to the spot but on sight the police the accused started firing on them. The police retaliated the fire and the cross-fire continued for some time. Resultantly the arrested three outlaws identified as Akbar Ali, a resident of Kasur, Iftikhar alias Chuha of Tandialan Wala and Munawar of Changa Manga and recovered weapons from them.

However, their nine accomplices managed to escape from the scene. The police have registered a case.
