LAHORE – The SNGPL on Tuesday conducted a grand operation against gas theft and caught a pilferage of billions of rupees at a textile mill.

“Basafa Textile and Spinning Mill, 23Km Nabipura Kasur Road, was involved gas pilferage incepting the four inches main MS line,” said the SNGPL spokesperson, adding that the line’s length was of 700 meters. It was informed that two generators of one mega volt were being used by the gas.

“Yes, it is brilliant effort of whole UFG (unaccounted-for-gas) team against the menace of gas theft,” the spokesperson said.

“FIR 301/13 at police station Kahan Nau has been lodged under section 462/C of gas pilferage Mian Umar, owner of the textile mill, and few unidentified persons.”

The spokesperson said Mian Umar was the non-consumer of the SNGPL and was not even bothered to get a connection of gas. The team members who conducted raid were Haji Abdul Sattar Khan, Rasheed Ahmed and Raja Moazam. 

In another raid, the SNGPL task force caught gas theft at Iqbal Colony Ahmed Town and caped a bypass delivering gas to 18 houses. Team members that shared their efforts in combating domestic gas pilferage were Miraj Khan, Muhammad Nadeem, Hafiz Mudassar, Sabir Piya and Naseer Welder, said the spokesperson.

Anti-dengue drive: District Coordination Officer Rizwan Mehboob has said that all officers and the CDGL employees should perform their duties with whole heartedly to make the anti-dengue campaign successful and no negligence on part of any official would be tolerated.

Chairing a meeting about anti-dengue campaign at Town Hall on Tuesday, the DCO directed said that all officers should pay special attention to eliminate dengue and teams should conduct surveillance of dengue larva home to home. He said he would discuss with Railways MD about the cleanliness of 192 Acre land of Railway warehouses and dengue larva would be searched out with the cooperation of admin.
