ISLAMABAD - Pakistan’s top junior squash player Israr Ahmed moves into the semi-finals of the World Junior Squash Championship 2016 as after staging a huge upset by defeating Egyptian Marwen Tarek in the quarterfinals played in Bielsko-Biala, Poland Tuesday.

Israr is the lone Pakistani left in the event to carry the national flag as all the other four Pakistani players have exit in earlier rounds. Israr was in supreme control and won the first two games in style. Israr took the first game 11-6 and second game 11-9. But after playing so fluent squash, he just allowed Tarek a chance to come back into the match, which Tarek dully obliged and won next two games, winning 11-8 and 11-7. Just when the things were looking grim for Isar, he wake up in time and displayed same game, which gave him 2-0 lead in the match. Israr comfortably won the fifth and deciding game 11-5 to reach semi-final. It was the third Egyptian player, who was beaten by Pakistani players in the event.
