ISLAMABAD - Islamabad Transport Authority has challaned 115 public transport vehicles during routine checking on Monday and impounded two vehicles for violating traffic rules and non-completion of routes. Secretary ITA, Bashir Ahmed during traffic checking at Karachi Company G-9 Markaz, challaned 115 vehicles plying on different routes for various traffic violations including non-completion of routes. He also imposed fine worth Rs 26,000 on nine vehicles plying on route no 6 for non-completion of route. Two vehicles being driven by under age drivers were also impounded. He told that drive had been launched on the special orders of the Chief Commissioner ICT Kamran Lashari and Deputy Commissioner ICT Amer Ali Ahmed in order to ensure implementation of traffic rules and completion of routes by the public transport vehicles. He told that Chief Commissioner ICT has directed to redress the complaints of commuters on the spot and ensure that public transport operators follow the traffic rules besides completing their designated routes. Secretary ITA also directed the transporters to ensure the completion of routes and observe traffic rules, failing which their route permit will be suspended. He informed that in order to ensure the safety of lives ,offences such as over speeding and under age driving will not be tolerated.
