RAWALPINDI- Thirteen-year-old Hamza who was stolen from a Rawalpindi hospital 13 years ago, was reunited with his parents after a DNA test confirmed their claim to parenthood yet he looked gloomy and resisted when his real parents tried to take him away. He said he wanted to live with the couple who allegedly stole him and look after him for so many years. According to the details, Javed Khan a taxi driver by profession along with his wife Yasmeen took into legal custody their 13-year-old son Hamza Ali who had been named as Haroon Qureshi after he was stolen from a nursery of Rawalpindi General Hospital (Benazir Bhutto Shaheed Hospital) allegedly by Siddiqa Faisal on December 24, 1995 at the tender age of three. The child was produced in the court of the Additional District & Sessions Judge Amjad Iqbal Ranjah by the Waris Khan police along with Siddiqa and her husband Faisal Masood for the pre-arrest bail application of the accused. The court adjourned the hearing till February 14 on the request of the lawyer of the petitioners. Police produced the child in the court of the duty magistrate Raja Khurram Ali Khan on Sunday after they received the DNA report confirming Hamza the son of Yasmeen and Javed but they insisted they would take their son in custody in the court of sessions judge. Hamza was not happy while leaving Siddiqa and told the police that he would not like to stay with his new parents. He was concerned about his studies and future as he had been getting education in an elite school of the city where as his actual father plies taxi to feed the mouths of his four other sisters and a brother. According to details, Ysmeen gave birth to Hamza in RGH in December 1995 but the new-born was stolen from the nursery by a woman calling her as the paternal nephew of the baby boy and police registered an abduction case against unknown woman and her facilitators. The accused on the other hand in their bail plea maintained they were not nominated in the case and 14 years delay had created doubts in the case. They claimed Haroon was their real son. Talking to TheNation, Tuseef Butt the Investigation Officer (IO) informed that it was in October last year that the police was informed by a close relative of accused Faisal that his son was not his real child but was stolen from RGH many years ago.
