LAHORE Justice Iftikhar Hussain Chaudhry of the Lahore High Court Wednesday called for report, within two weeks, from the Home Secretary, Punjab and the police on a petition filed against the alleged political victimisation of PML-Q workers and leaders. The petition was filed by PML-Q MPA and leader of the Opposition in the Punjab Assembly, Chaudhry Zaheeruddin. The court also directed the DPO Gujrat and SHO Rehmania police station, Gujrat to personally appear before the court along with the relevant record, on the next hearing. The SHO has also been directed to come up with record of scuffle in which about 150 PML-Q workers were injured allegedly at the hands of PML-N workers. The petitioner contends that a clash took place on January 19, 2011 outside Gujrat Chamber of Commerce and Industry between PML-Q and PML-N workers in which many PML-Q workers were seriously injured who were later hospitalised. No action has been taken against the culprits so far, he added. The petitioner said that PML-N workers also attacked at hospital where injured PML-Q workers were being treated. He prayed to the court to intervene and seek check on the political victimisation of PML-Q workers as well as order the respondents not to arrest any worker without showing valid incriminating material against him to the court.
