LAHORE Two senior police officers have locked horns over the post of Director FIA Punjab. FIA headquarter is also not clear about the posting and has asked another officer verbally to take charge of the said office in the presence of an officer already performing against the same post. As per details, a senior police officer of Grade-20 Inam Ghnai was performing his duties as Director FIA Punjab when DG FIA verbally directed another police officer Waqar Haider to take over the same office. Waqar Haider was performing as Additional Director FIA in Lahore office and he was of Grade-19 officer. In the meanwhile when Waqar wanted to take over as Director FIA Punjab, already performing duties on the same post Inam Ghani went on leave for five days some 15 days back. Inam Ghani did not hand over the charge to Waqar Haider so far but he was performing as Director FIA Punjab (additional charge) apart from his own duties as Additional Director FIA. On Monday, Inam Ghani sought six more leaves from the department on the plea that his son was not feeling well. When contacted Inam Ghnai he said he was Director FIA Punjab so far and he had not given charge to any other officer. My son is ill due to which I am not attending my office, he added. He ruled out any sort of struggle by any other officer to get appointed on the same post and said it would be right of any body to try for the same but he dont know about any such struggle. Sources claimed that Waqar Haider was blue eyed officer of Chaudarys and he had served as DPO Mandi Bahauddin during their last government and after the PPP-PML(Q) alliance he was being recommended to be appointed on the said post. They claimed that as case of Moonis Ealhi was in FIA so Waqar Haider would be the most appropriate officer to watch their interest in the said case. An officer given legal opinion said that the above mentioned post was of Grade-20 and an officer of Grade-19 could not be appointed on the said post. When contacted Waqar Haider he said that he was in Islamabad in a high level meeting and he could not talk to this scribe. He advised this scribe to contact Public Relation Officer in this regard. When contacted PRO Haroon, he refused to comment on the story.
