Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik on Tuesday said that role of police force is vital for maintaining law and order situation in the country. Addressing the passing out parade of the 36th batch specialized training programme of the Assistant Superintendent of Police held here at the National Police Academy (NPA), he stressed the need to have conducive attitude towards the common man. Rehman Malik asserted that the role of police is very different from the central para military forces as police is made to suit local people and they operate within the society. He said police modernization is required not only in terms of better infrastructures, equipments and arms but also in attitude and approached of police system. It requires to be more human and respectful of citizen's liberty and dignity, he elaborated adding public should feel safe when they see police, he said. The minister also lauded and praised the police for its hard work and dedication in the very challenging task of maintaining law and order in the country.
