LAHORE - Federal Information Minister Pervaiz Rasheed has disclosed that Dost Muhammad Khosa, the son of his party colleague Sardar Zulfiqar Khosa, is responsible behind his father’s complaints, maintaining that the PML-N has always given Khosa high regard.

Talking to journalists after addressing “International Iqbal Conference” at Aiwan-e-Iqbal on Sunday, the Information minister held that Zulfqar Khosa preferred to work for the party instead of his son. He also informed that the culprits involved in the Kot Radha Kishan incident had been arrested, adding that they would be punished according to the law.

To a question, he rejected the impression that Daish (a terrorist outfit) was gaining a foothold in Punjab.

He also criticised Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT), saying that Dr Qadri was doing politics on the Model Town Daish. “Our government has stood by the victims in all cases of injustice. But the victims of Model Town vandalism are not cooperating with the government,” the federal minister affirmed.

To a question about the negotiations with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Pervaiz replied that Imran Khan himself closed the doors for talks and made the announcement while addressing sit-in in Islamabad. He added that the PML-N would take decision on the matter after Khan would express his willingness to restart the dialogue.

“It was Imran Khan who stopped his party leaders from negotiating with government, urging PTI to unlock their handcuffs to resolve issues through dialogue,” he said.

He held that PTI chairman’s wish to thrive his political career on dead bodies had not materialised. He also blamed the PTI chief for pursuing the 'politics of selfishness', while the PML-N, in his words, believed in the politics of selfless service to the masses.

He said that the development projects, which could have been completed in August, were hampered due to the Islamabad sit-ins.

“The politics of sit-ins will be responsible for delay in eradicating energy crisis from the country. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is serving the country while other parties are carrying out politics of personal interests,” he continued.

About the appointment of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC), the Information minister said that all political parties were almost unanimous on the name of Justice (retd) Rana Bhagwan Das for the post, who had refused to accept the responsibility.

“Undue criticism against those having important designations is the reason for people to avoid the responsibility. Fakharud Din G Ebrahim was the unanimous choice in the past but after Imran Khan’s criticism, no one else would now is coming forward,” he revealed.

Earlier, the Information minister addressed the International Iqbal Conference where he was accompanied by Punjab Governor Ch Sarwar, Ataul Haq Qasmi, Mujeeb ur Rehman Shami and others.

He stressed the need to follow the vision of Dr Allama Muhammad Iqbal in its letter and spirit.

“Allama Iqbal struggled throughout his life, but his vision was not being followed in its true spirit. At present, the vision of Iqbal had been limited to books,” he regretted.

The Punjab governor said that the country could get out of the existing challenges by adopting the vision of Quaid-i-Azam and Allama Iqbal about a welfare state.
