No misery would make this nation realize that this is no time to celebrate independence. On behalf of our martyred soldiers who lost their lives saving us from Taliban, I make an earnest appeal to this nation and its impoverished and imprudent government to observe August 14, 2009 as a day of silence rather than celebration. Rather then being colourful, fanciful and musical that we are wont to, let the nation meditate, repent and resolve to make an effort to change for the better. -MARGHUZ KHAN, Peshawar, via e-mail, August 5.
