LAHORE - The PML-N MPA and his bodyguards Monday allegedly thrashed policemen when they stopped them for security at 5-Club in Racecourse police limits. Reportedly, the policemen deputed at 5-Club in GOR stopped MPA Haroon Sultan and his bodyguards at the main gate for security. The police officials asked the MPA to leave his car for search but he refused and informed them that he was going to 7-Club. The police officials however refused to allow him without undergoing security clearance process. One of the bodyguards of the MPA exchanged hot words with the security in charge ASI Muhammad Abbas and also threatened him to give him lesson for stopping an MPA. The MPA Haroon Sultan and his bodyguards later thrashed the ASI. It is learnt that the policemen also tortured the bodyguards and snatched from them their guns to avoid armed clash. The other on-duty policemen rushed to the spot and rescued the ASI. They later called senior police officers at the site. SHO Racecourse police station Naveed Irshad said that the policemen deployed at the main gate of 5-Club were assigned special duties to stop visitors and they had instructions that nobody should be allowed without thorough checking. He said according to the Standard Operating Procedure, all the visitors would be stopped at 5-Club for security except the CM, Governor and other VVIP guests. He said the PML-N MPA was asked to allow the policemen for search of his vehicle but he got infuriated and scuffled with the policemen. The sources said that DIG Security Sarmad Saeed held an inquiry into the matter and informed the IGP about the situation. He also held the MPA and his bodyguards guilty. SHO Racecourse said that he had received no complaint regarding the incident from both sides. 'Injustice root cause of social evils' Pakistan Muslim League-N overseas central secretary general Sheikh Kaiser Mehmood has said that the confidence on the judiciary with the reinstatement of judges has been restored; therefore, the heads of all national institutions promoting the self-accountability should make their institutions more functional and strong by ending corruption. In a statement issued here on Monday he said that by ending corruption from the judiciary the oppressed people would be able to get speedy justice. He said that the action taken by the judicial council against the corrupt judges would help to weed out corruption from the country, adding that the judiciarys determination to not extend support to unconstitutional rulers in future was good omen for the democracy. He said that in future no general would dare to take power through unfair means, as the judiciarys historic verdict closed the doors forever for military dictators to overthrow elected governments in lust of coming into power. Kaiser Mehmood said that injustice was root cause of many social evils, while non-existing of rule of law and justice could encourage criminals. He said that with the freedom of judiciary the people would be able to get political liberties in real sense.
