LAHORE - Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif presided over a high level meeting, on Monday, which reviewed in detail the situation in view of Kasur incident, its progress, law and order and steps taken under National Action Plan in the province.

Terming the mass abuse of Kasur children a heinous act deserving strong condemnation, the chief minister told the meeting that the accused involved in this incident would not escape deterrent punishment.

Shahbaz Sharif directed that foolproof security arrangements should be made for the protection of life and property of people of the province. He said that every possible step should be taken for the protection of life and property of the people and law enforcement agencies should remain alert with regard to Independence Day functions.

The chief minister said that the security of mosques, imambarghas, churches and other worship places should be made foolproof at every cost. He warned that no negligence regarding security arrangements would be tolerated.

The chief minister said that Cabinet Committee on law and order should play an effective and vibrant role with regard to security arrangements. He said that concerned institutions should continue close coordination regarding intelligence sharing. He said that the law regarding ban on use of load-speaker should be implemented strictly.

He said that the laws with regard to checking of publication and distribution of literature based on religious hatred and ban on wall-chalking should be implemented in an effective manner. He said that an indiscriminate crackdown should be launched against banned organisations and their facilitators.

He said that no banned organisations would be allowed to collect donations. He said that the activities of banned organisations would be curbed with full force. He said that the steps taken under National Action Plan should be continued.

The chief minister said that National Action Plan reflects national determination for eliminating terrorism from the country and the entire nation is committed to root out terrorism. He said that Zarb-e-Azb operation of Pak Army against terrorists is continuing with full force and they have been hit hard through this operation.

He said that the enemies of peace and the country are being taken to task through operation Zarb-e-Azb. He said that Pak Army has written a new history of valour and bravery in the war against terrorists.

Shahbaz Sharif said that officers and officials of Pak Army, police, security agencies, children of the nation as well as every segment of the society have rendered unprecedented sacrifices in war against terrorism. He said that the war against terrorism is war for the survival of the country and in the entire nation is standing by Pak Army. He said that this war will continue till the elimination of last terrorist from the country.

The meeting expressed its satisfaction over the steps taken under National Action Plan for eliminating terrorism and appreciated the performance of Punjab government and law enforcement agencies on recent successful actions against terrorist and their facilitators.

Provincial Minister for Law, Inspector General Police Punjab, Secretaries of Home, Law, Public Prosecution, Information departments and concerned authorities attended the meeting.
