Islamabad - The Islamabad High Court (IHC) yesterday issued notice to Ayyan Ali on custom authorities’ petition challenging a trial court’s decision of returning passport to the model girl.

A single bench of IHC comprising Justice Athar Minallah conducted the hearing of the petition and issued notices to Ayyan Ali after hearing the arguments of the counsel for customs authorities.

The counsel for customs Farhat Nawaz Lodhi Advocate contended before the court that the name of Ayyan has already been put on exit control list (ECL). Her passport is a proof in currency smuggling case and there were apprehension that she could flee out of country through illegal means.

Therefore, the counsel Lodhi requested the court to issue directions to Ayyan for handing back her passport to Custom authorities. After issuing notices to the model girl, the IHC deferred the proceedings in this matter till December 16.

It was on December 04 when customs authorities had filed a petition challenging the special court for custom, excise & taxation’s order dated November 25, 2015 through which the special court had accepted the model girl Ayyan Ali’s application and returned her passport.

The customs authorities adopted in the petition that the said order was not issued following due process of law. These authorities have expressed their apprehensions before the court that Ayyan after receiving the passport could abscond from the case proceedings. Moreover the passport was a part of main and valid evidence that is not in their possession now.

The authorities had confiscated the passport of Ayyan after arresting her at Benazir Bhutto International Airport on March 14, 2015.
