LAHORE - Anti Vehicle Lifting Staff (AVLS) claimed to have busted two car lifting gangs and recovered 17 cars and three motorcycles from them, said Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Investigation Hassan Mushtaq Sukhera.

He was addressing a press conference at Qila Gujjar Singh investigation headquarters yesterday. Among other police officers present on the occasion included AVLS SP Malik Awais and City Circle AVLS DSP Aftab Phularwan. SSP said the AVLS were conducting raids in different provinces to recover the stolen vehicles and record of vehicles stolen was recompiled and special pickets were set up at the entry and exit points of the city.

He said the car lifters were lifting cars from different areas of the city with the help of master key and after tampering their chassis numbers, sold them at meager prices. The police recovered 17 cars and three motorcycles from their possession. He said the suspects were history-sheeters and involved in more than 80 cases registered against them in different areas of the city.

The arrested were identified as ringleader Farhan Ali alias Phana Bhatti, Muhammad Tariq and Muhammad Ramzan.

He said the suspects after stealing the vehicles with the help of master key from different areas of the city and reallocates it to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
