ISLAMABAD: Iran’s newly appointed Ambassador to Pakistan Mehdi Honardoost paid a courtesy call to Special Assistant to Prime Minister (SAPM) on Foreign Affairs Syed Tariq Fatemi, in Islamabad.

According to a press release by Foreign Office (FO), SAPM welcomed Ambassador Honardoost to Islamabad, and felicitated him on his appointment. He emphasized that Pakistan attached great importance to its relations with Iran, and assured him of full support in the discharge of his responsibilities.

“He expressed the hope that his presence in Islamabad would help further strengthen the relationship between the two brotherly countries, with both sides continuing to explore new avenues for bilateral cooperation,” the release stated.

The FO stated that Honardoost thanked the Fatemi for the warm welcome extended to him by the government of Pakistan.

“He expressed his strong resolve to work towards maintaining the positive trajectory of bilateral relations between Pakistan and Iran, particularly in the areas of economic cooperation, trade, tourism, energy as well as people-to-people contacts,” foreign office stated in its press release.
