The Brick Kiln Labour Union has lashed out at the owners for not depositing contribution fee for the issuance of social security cards to the kiln workers. Labour Union President Ghulam Abbas Haidri said that there are 88 brick kilns in the district and an amount of Rs1.2 million has been deposited with the brick kiln owners by the workers but they have not deposited the contribution of the workers. As a result, he added, the workers have been deprived of the social security cards facility. He called upon the deputy director social security to take prompt action against the owners.

Meanwhile, traders, shopkeepers, and workers and owners of small industries have protested against unscheduled loadshedding in the area. They called upon the Gepco authorities to minimise the duration of loadshedding and also confine only to scheduled loadshedding to enable them to make their both ends meet.

ARRANGEMENTS: District Officer (coordination) Shahid Ismail has called upon the health and other relevant staff to ensure success of three-day anti-polio campaign being launched in the district. Reviewing the arrangements being made to launch campaigns from January 11, he said that no leniency would be shown to the negligent and lethargic personnel and strict action would be taken against them.

EDO (Health) Aslam Shaheen told the meeting that l, 95,890 kids below five years of age, would be administered anti-polio drops by 482 mobile teams and 42 zonal supervisors from January 11.

WHO representative Abdul Rehman appreciated the Health Department for undertaking anti-polio campaigns with dedication.
