ISLAMABAD - Federal Minister for Industries and Production Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo Friday said that the first ever industrial policy would be announced in a couple of months to promote industrial sector. He said this while addressing the business community at Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (ICCI). He said that government was in consultation with all stakeholders and accommodating their views and suggestions in the policy. He asked the businessmen to give their proposals to make this policy more industry friendly. He announced that in collaboration with Pakistan Stone Development Company, a marble city would be set up in Islamabad to boost local marble industry. He said that the government was giving priority to the promotion of SME sector, which was considered as an engine of growth and a key source to job creation. Wattoo said government was working on different options including wind, coal & gas, etc. for meeting the energy requirements of the country. He said country was facing a shortfall of 3,000MW, while due to technical fault at Mangla power station, this shortage had gone up to 4,100MW. However, he assured that by July-end, industry would face no loadshedding while country would get rid of this problem by December this year. Ethanol-mixed petrol to be sold at PSO pumps Main Manzoor Ahmad Wattoo, Federal Minister For Industries and Production Friday said Ethanol-mixed petrol would be sold Rs2.40/lit less than the current petrol price. Talking to a TV channel News after the Inter-ministerial meeting held here to determine the usage of ethanol as fuel and its price. The federal minister said 10 percent ethanol will be mixed in the petrol preliminarily, adding in first phase, the ethanol-mixed petrol will be provided from PSO petrol pumps in Islamabad/Rawalpindi and later on, its sale will be commenced across the country. Manzoor Wattoo said that Production Ministry will advise ECC to increase regulatory duty on export of sugarcane wastes with a view to increase ethanol production.
