LAHORE - The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has submitted an application for registering a case against PML-N MPA Ajasam Sharif and others under the charges of attacking LDA Demolition Squad, giving life threats and hindering their operation against illegal construction on States land in Mustafa Town here on Friday. According to the details, enforcement officer in LDAs Directorate of Enforcement Nisar Ahmed has filed an application for getting an FIR registered under Anti-terrorism Act against Ajasam Sharif and others in the Hanjarwal Police Station. He has also forwarded a detailed report duly signed by every member of the demolition squad and enforcement inspectors, who were engaged in the operation work, to LDA higher authorities. The report revealed that Nisar Ahmed along with assistant estate officers Muhammad Shah and Muhammad Shoaib, enforcement inspectors Rana Mushtaq, Salim, Sheikh Yousaf, Munawar, Mian Shahzad and other squad members reached the government land, plot numbers 450 449, 448, Shahbaz Block, Mustafa Town, where illegal construction was underway. The report has disclosed that before the LDA personnel had started their operation, a former LDA employee Amjad Abdullah and Akhtar Nawaz Goga accompanied by their accomplices reached the site, resisted the operation with arms, and manhandled the squad. And due to non-availability of police force, the LDA officials had to stop their work. Nisar Ahmad in his report said that PML-N MPA and Parliamentary Secretary Ajasam Sharif telephoned and threatened him of dire consequences. Enforcement Inspector Mian Shahzad also submitted his report to LDAs Directorate of Enforcement that one day before the operation, Ajasam Sharif accompanied by his accomplices visited his house and warned him not to undertake the demolition work. Sources said that Building Inspector Abdul Jabbar of the LDA Town Planning Branch submitted a report to higher authorities that government land of plots 450 449, 448 of Shahbaz Block in Mustafa Town were under illegal possession of accused Naeem Aktar alias Goga who had started illegal construction over there. On his report, the sources said, LDA newly-constituted Directorate of Enforcements Senior Enforcement Officer Rashid Arshad ordered his subordinate Nisar Ahmed to launch operation against the squatter. When Nisar Ahmed along with demolition staff reached on the spot on Thursday morning and tried to bulldoze the illegal under-construction buildings, he received a threatening call on his mobile phone. The caller introduced him as PML-N MPA Ajasam Sharif, saying that he was calling from the CM Secretariat and if the operation was not stopped, he would get suspended all the staffers, the sources added. They said that the enforcement inspector informed the higher authorities forthwith and sought police help by calling Police Emergency Service Rescue 15. However, the police responded that it could not turn up to rescue as every policeman had been deployed for the security of UK Foreign Minister David Miliband. The sources further said that during investigation, LDA found that telephone received by Enforcement Officer Nisar Ahmed belonged to the office of Parliamentary Secretary of Excise and Taxation Department Ajasam Sharif. When contacted, Ajasam Sharif replied that he called the LDA employee on the insistence of a voter. However, he denied threatening him of dire consequences. It may be recalled that some days back PML-N MPA Rana Tajammul Hussain and CMs Coordinator Waheed Gul forcibly stopped a demolition operation planned against the illegal constructions built on thousands of acres of state land, including 1,100 acres allocated for the Judicial Colony, in Harbanspura.
