ISLAMABAD  - Federal Minister for Capital Administration and Development (CAD), Nazar Muhammad Gondal has taken notice of delay in construction of Cardiac Centre of Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS).

He has directed the Capital Development and Administration Division (CADD) to present a detailed report on the matter and has also decided to take stern action against those responsible. The inquiry committee will file its report to the CADD during the current week.

Meanwhile, the PIMS high-ups have been busy in efforts for securing them against the proceedings. The completion of the centre has allegedly been delayed due to negligence of PIMS administration and involvement of commission-mafia. The project was to be completed by June this year. Sources have revealed considerable embezzlement in the project, as substandard construction material has been used, and certain individuals have also received kickbacks.

It is pertinent to mention here that the present cardiology ward of PIMS has just a few beds and plan of construction of the Cardiac Centre was aimed at meeting the demands of increasing number of heart-patients.
