KARACHI - Pakistan’s first ever national Beach Games will be held at Karachi sometime in February/March, announced Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) president Lt General (retd) Arif Hasan here on Tuesday at a media conference at Karachi Press Club.

Gen (retd) Arif said the Games will be held in cooperation with Sindh Olympic Association (SOA) which has been advised to form an organising committee and other committees to work out the details of the proposed event which, he said, could lead to holding the South Asian Beach Games followed by Asian Beach Games.

Ms Veena Masood, Wasim Hashmi, Ahmed Ali Rajput were also present on the occasion.

He said two members of SOA, its president Dr MA Shah and secretary Ahmed Ali and one other member recently attended the Asian Beach Games in China to get first hand knowledge about the organisation of these games. The delegation inspected venues and facilities and held meetings with the organizers to get other information. The Pakistani members were advised to submit reports with the POA and their comments about how things could be handled in Pakistan.
