LAHORE – Three persons including a female were gunned down by unidentified armed men inside their home at Tajpura Scheme in Ghaziabad police area late on Tuesday.

Police investigators said the victims, yet to be identified, were asleep when some unknown gunmen barged into the home and opened indiscriminate bullets on them. Subsequently, two persons including a woman died instantly whereas third person sustained multiple bullet injuries and was shifted to a local hospital where the doctors also pronounced him as dead.

According to a neighbor of the victims, few armed motorcyclists approached the home at Tajpura and sprayed bullets on sleeping family members. “They along with their killing weapons fled the scene within no time,” he added. Later, heavy police contingents reached the scene and cordoned off the residence. On duty police officer said police concerned have collected evidences. No case was lodged till filing of this report. Further investigation is underway.

Valuables gutted: Goods and household valuables worth thousands of rupees were reduced to ashes when fire erupted in a house located in Sandha police area on Tuesday.

A rescue official said that fire broke out in at a house owned by one Imran of Hakeemanwala Bazar. The reason of fire eruption was told short circuiting. Subsequently, furniture and electronic appliances were reduced to ashes. The fire brigade reached the spot and extinguished within no time. No loss of life was reported into the incident.

Two injured in accident: Two people sustained multiple injuries when a speeding police van smashed straight into the wall of a house in Garhi Shahu on Tuesday.

An eyewitness said that a police vehicle occupied by Muhammad Azhar was on patrol when it rammed into the wall of Amjad’s house. Resultantly, two persons namely Nadeem and Muhammad Ali received injuries and were shifted to the Mayo Hospital where their condition was told stable.

Meanwhile, one Saleem sustained bullet wounds at a local hotel in Gulshan Ravi area on Tuesday. Police said that one Yaseen, owner of a hotel, had been running a dispute with one Waseem. On the day of incident, Waseem equipped with firearm appeared on the scene and opened straight bullets on Yaseen. However, a customer identified as Khawaja Saleem sustained multiple injuries and was rushed to a local hospital where his condition was told critical till filing of this report.

Newborn found dead: A body of newborn was found in Masti Gate police limits on Tuesday. Locals spotted the body wrapped up in a cloth and informed police which removed it to the City morgue. Police suspected that an unknown female had thrown her illegitimate baby to conceal her sin.

Meanwhile, Deputy Inspector General (Headquarters) Mian Salik Jalal has directed the head-warders to perform their duties with dedication, honesty, commitment and professional zeal.

Addressing a passing out ceremony of 92 head-warders under the first promotion course at the Punjab Prisoners Staff Training Institute here on Tuesday, Mr. Jalal said that head warders were the real department runners so their professional training and promotion were integral part of their professional career. He asked them to continue discharging their duties in enthusiastic way.
