Islamabad - The Islamabad High Court (IHC) Wednesday sought minutes of the Central Selection Board (CSB) meeting held for the promotion of civil servants.

A single-member bench of IHC comprising Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui issued these directions in various petitions of some 30 CSP officials including Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Aftab Cheema and Deputy Commandant FC Ghani-ur-Rehman who had challenged the promotions of CSP officials made in the light of recommendations of CSB. The petitioners have maintained in their petitions that the government had promoted their juniors while ignoring them.

During the hearing, Justice Siddiqui remarked that the court would also review the point whether the promotions approved by prime minister could be annulled or not.

Additional Attorney General (AAG) Aafnan Karim Kundi contended before the court that Prime Minister Sharif had already promoted the concerned officials in the light of CSB recommendations. Then, the court directed to produce meeting minutes in a sealed envelope on the next hearing and deferred the proceedings till June 18.
