Rawalpindi - The lawyers on Wednesday observed complete strike and boycotted court proceedings in a protest against murder of son of a colleague. Fifteen-year-old Syed Wajih-ul-Hassan, son of Syed Masood Shah, vice-president of PPP Lawyers Forum, was gunned down within the limits of Police Station Sihala, sparking unrest among the legal fraternity.

According to details, the lawyers observed complete strike in district courts and LHC Rawalpindi Bench. No lawyer appeared before courts to contest cases and the judges postponed the hearings till next dates. The litigants faced troubles due to strike.

Addressing the legal fraternity, President District Bar Association GM Shah, who is also the uncle of the deceased, denounced the murder of son of lawyer and demanded police to arrest the killers immediately and punish them in accordance with law. He said that the lawyers would stage protest demonstration if police failed in handcuffing the killers.

Due to lawyers’ strike, Anti-Terrorism Court Special Judge Rai Muhammad Ayub Marth postponed hearing in Benazir Bhutto murder case till June 13. The court was scheduled to record the statements of four prosecution witnesses on Wednesday.
