Dacoity, robbery and theft incidents continued unabated putting a question mark on the performance of law enforcers especially police here on Wednesday.

Seven armed dacoits stormed into the house of Sohail Cheema near Pindi Bhattian Bypass early Wednesday morning and made off with gold ornaments, cash and licensed firearms worth Rs. 2.5 million.

According to police source, seven armed bandits intruded into the house of Sohail Cheema at 4 a.m., tortured the family members and locked them in a room and made off with 30 tolas gold ornaments, cash amount of Rs8 lakh, two pistols, one gun and one rifle and managed their escape.

Meanwhile, two armed bandits snatched away bike and cash of thousands of rupees from two villagers near Mian Raheeman village. Munawar Hussain of Manzoor Ahmad was on way to his nearby village on his bike (HZK-4346) when he reached near Mian Raheeman two armed dacoits intercepted him and snatched away his bike, cell phone and cash. At the same point the bandits also intercepted Yousaf of Thatha Jhakran and snatched away Rs10,000 and cell phone from him.

Likewise, armed bandits snatched away Rs200,000 from the owner of a filling station near Pindi Bhattian while two dacoits snatched away six tolas gold ornaments and cash amount of Rs8,000 from Ali Ahmad of Amjad Ali Sura and his sister when they were on way to their village on a bike near Upper Gogira Branch Canal near Booeke village.

BOOK READING STRESSED: DCO Hafizabad Muhammad Usman has stressed a need for promoting book reading as books are the best teachers which lead the youth to right directions to enable them to brighten their career and become responsible citizens.

During his visit to the District Public Library, he said that this library would be converted into a model library where all kinds of books would be provided to enable the youth to be benefited from them.

He said that libraries always played a vital role in the promotion of values and provided opportunities to the readers to make best use of them.

He also set up two sub-committees headed by District Officer Coordination Shahid Isamail Mirza and DMO Adnan Irshad to convert the library into a model one.
