ISLAMABAD The Supreme Court could have validated the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) 'but we want supremacy of Constitution and rule of law in the country, therefore, the Constitution was given full protection, says Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry here on Monday. The CJ was heading a three-member bench comprising Justice Khalilur Rehman Ramday and Justice Ghulam Rabbani. Pointing out irregularities in a project of the Government, the CJ remarked that the Constitution and laws would not be compromised at any cost. Justice Khalilur Rehman Ramday questioned, Is there anyone expecting that we will make a compromise on the violation of Constitution. Justice Ramday remarked that matti-pao approach justified the doctrine of necessity and the SC would not allow any influential to violate the law. During the course of hearing of F-9 project of the CDA, he said that it was a wrong perception that only poor needed to follow the law.
