LAHORE - Inspector General of Police Punjab Tariq Saleem Dogar has directed the field police officers of the province to take strict legal action against the cattle thieves and rustlers in their respective areas so that incidents of cattle theft could be checked in the rural areas. He was addressing the meeting of Joint Task Force on Cattle Theft here on Monday. Amongst others the meeting was also attended by the Chairmen of Task Force Asghar Ali Munda, M Arshad, Tahir Ahmed Sandhu, members of Punjab Assembly, Regional Police Officers of Sheikhupura, Sargodha, Gujranwala, Sahiwal, Faisalabad, DIG Investigation Hamid Mukhtar Gondal, SSP Operations Lahore Ch M Shafique and SSP Investigation Azhar Hameed. The meeting reviewed progress of the detection of cases of cattle theft in the province and took certain important decisions in this regard. The IG directed the RPOs to ensure immediate registration of cases of cattle theft and utilise the services of competent investigation police officers and expert Khojees to get desired results. He further directed that the pace of detection of the cases of cattle theft should be accelerated and the flawless challans be timely submitted in the respective courts so that suitable punishments could be awarded to the notorious criminals. The IG categorically said that the cattle thieves and their helpers would be dealt with an iron hand and immediate justice be provided to the people in this regard. In order to curb the crime of cattle theft maximum cooperation of local notables should be achieved and full consideration would be given to their positive suggestions, the IG concluded.
