Islamabad - As per elections strategy of the caretaker government, over burdened masses would witness zero power load shedding, uninterrupted oil and gas supply on polling day across Pakistan.

To ensure continuous supply of oil and gas supply during today’s general election 2013, an ‘Oil and Gas Control Cell’ established in the premises of Petroleum and Natural Resources Ministry that would be operational round-the-clock and all information regarding oil and gas stocks and supplies would be available in the control cell. This cell would ensure co-ordination among Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources, Finance, Water and Power, Sui Northern Gas Pipe Lines SNGPL), Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGCL), Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) and Pakistan State Oil) PSO) to provide continuous supply of oil and gas. Members of this cell include Additional Secretary Petroleum (Focal Point), Director General Oil, Director General Gas, General Manager PSO, General Manager SNGPL and Chief Manager SSGCL.

“All the relevant ministries and departments will coordinate to ensure the availability oil and gas for the power sector and to keep the petrol pumps, compressed natural gas stations and telephone and mobile phone networks operational during the election days so that smooth electoral process can be ensured,” said a senior official at petroleum ministry.

Similarly, the interim government under its policy to ensure continuous power, gas supply in the country on polling day that had already released 11.55 billion to ensure power supply and issued instructions to Gencos, and Discos to make special arrangements and depute officers and officials to ensure smooth and uninterrupted power supply.

It is worthwhile to mention that the IESCO has made special arrangements for election day and deputed officers and officials to ensure smooth and uninterrupted power supply. According to IESCO, these officials would perform their duties on May 10 and May 11 at Distribution Control Center Islamabad and all five Circles, including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum and Chakwal.  The IESCO also appealed to its customers to cooperate with the officials and in case of any emergency or interruption they could contact to their respective areas compliant offices and Customers Services Center.
