President Asif Ali Zardari on the advice of the Prime Minister on Saturday approved the “Representation of the people (amendment) Ordinance, 2013”.

Spokesperson to the President Senator Farhatullah Babar said the Ordinance which amends the representation of the people Act, 1976 by inserting a new section 86 B, provides for punishment for violation of code of conduct.

The Ordinance provides that any person who violates any of the provisions of the code of conduct already issued by the Election Commission shall be punishable with fine which may extends to one hundred thousand rupees.
