ISLAMABAD The security forces killed at least nine terrorists, while one militant was apprehended in South Waziristan, ISPR Tuesday said. According to statement, on Jandola-Sararogha axis, the security forces have secured Tsappara and adjoining ridges and search and clearance operations were in progress at Sarai Ghundaka, Kandao, Spinkai and Zariwam. On Shakai-Kaniguram axis, the security forces cleared area North of Ladha and found a private jail near Bangel Khel. Further, a number of caves, bunkers, towers and observation posts of the terrorists in the area were destroyed. During search operation in area north of Ladha, a group of terrorists were engaged which led to killing of five terrorists. On Razmak-Makeen axis, clearance and consolidation of positions were underway. Security forces carried out house-to-house search at Tauda China Khula and Fort Knoll and recovered huge cache of arms and ammunition. One terrorist was apprehended while four others were killed. As regards, operation Rah-e-Nijat in Swat and Malakand, nine terrorists voluntarily surrendered to security forces at Maindam, Lakhar and Kabbal. Security forces conducted search operation at Roria, Shalpin and apprehended four terrorists. Agencies add: A military official told AFP that no one had been found inside the apparent jail, but insisted it was used by the Taliban to detain those they determined guilty of misbehaviour and that sleeping bags had been found. The military said nine militants were killed in the last 24 hours, which would bring to around 495 the number reported dead since around 30,000 troops went into battle against around 10,000 foot soldiers on October 17. The army says 46 soldiers have been killed, a fraction of the number lost in past campaigns as security officials say that many rebels have fled to nearby tribal districts North Waziristan and Orakzai.
