ISLAMABAD National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Tuesday directed all its regional offices to prepare a list of the cases in which the accused had secured relief under National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO), sources in the department informed on Tuesday. The orders to Regional Accountability Bureaus in Rawalpindi, Lahore, Karachi, Quetta and Peshawar were gave direction that details of all those who had availed relief under NRO be prepared and the same should be sent to the NAB head office so that a comprehensive list could be prepared. The sources in the bureau informed that government had directed the NAB officials to prepare a comprehensive list of all those who had benefited from NRO as the same could be required for presentation in the National Assembly as MPs from opposition parties were continuously demanding the list of NRO beneficiaries to be tabled before the house. The officials in Regional Accountability Bureau Rawalpindi were directed not to leave the office on Tuesday afternoon and accomplish the task of preparing the list of all those who had benefited under NRO including the details of their cases and the money released in these cases. The sources further informed that it would take them two hours to complete the task, as they were not having a list at hand and had to compile it. Even the detail of all the cases, which were at investigation stage were also dispatched to the headquarters, an official sources informed TheNation. The sources in NAB further informed that similar directives were also given to the regional offices of NAB in Lahore, Karachi, Quetta and Peshawar and in next couple of days they would have a complete list of NRO beneficiaries and the details of the cases, which were dropped against them. Most of the cases against top politicians were under trial at Rawalpindi NAB courts. Those whose cases were fixed in NAB Courts Rawalpindi included that of President Asif Ali Zardari, Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik, Suleman Farooqui, Brig (Retd) Aslam Hayat, Saifur Rehman, Haji Nawaz Kokhar, Mian Manzoor Wattoo, Begum Nusrat Bhutto, Ms Benazir Bhutto and many others. It is pertinent to mention here that a couple of corruption references against PML-N Quaid Mian Nawaz Sharif, Punjab Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif and other family members were still pending before the NAB courts Rawalpindi and on the request of prosecution the hearing in these cases was adjourned for indefinite period.
