PPP-led Government has appointed former Chief Justice of Sindh High Court Deedar Hussain Shah as Chairman of the National Accountability Bureau. The leader of the Opposition in National Assembly Ch Nisar Ali has opposed the appointment of Justice Deedar Hussain. He referred to Mr Hussain as a Jiala of PPP as he remained MPA twice and he was also appointed as judge during the PPP government in 1993. The PML-N has challenged the appointment of the Chairman in the Lahore High Court. Why the President and the Prime Minister are not able to find a person out of millions of citizens who is acceptable to all political parties? Why appoint a judge who is member of the PPP. Chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB) should be a person without any political affiliation. One of the reasons of the present governments failure to deliver good governance is that it is least bothered about meritocracy. Important jobs and assignments have been given cronies of the President. State institutions belong to every citizen. They are not personal assets of President or the Prime Minister. Every ruler must be accountable to public. I think there is something gravely wrong with our politicians. ENGR. S.T. HUSSAIN, Lahore, October 9.
