LAHORE Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani and Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Friday agreed to cooperate on the rehabilitation of the flood victims and taking fair steps for reconstruction work.During a telephonic contact, the two leaders also reiterated to implement decisions taken at the recent NDMA meeting. The Prime Minister informed the Chief Minister about the steps he was taking to deal with some problems relating to disbursement of Rs20,000 per family before Eid. Shahbaz Sharif later told Nawa-i-Waqt that dams were urgently needed to cope with the situation like the one created by the recent floods. Had the dams been there, people would not have suffered, he maintained. Shahbaz Sharif said the Punjab government had devoted all its resources to rehabilitate the affectees. This was done purely on humanitarian grounds and not for any political advantage. He thanked the donors for contributing funds. Answering a question, Shahbaz said that former dictator Pervez Musharraf would not return to Pakistan because he alone was responsible for creating the problems being faced by people at present. In case he does so, he can be pelted with stones by the people, he added.
